While EirGrid is of the firm belief that undergrounding does not represent an appropriate technology
for the proposed 400kV projects or for the general development of the transmission system, in this
report, the considerations that would arise in relation to the use of the rail beds involved are examined.

Public Consultation on Meath-Cavan and Cavan-Tyrone Power Lines, Public Consultation Report 04.04.08

This report, which has been prepared by RPS and MMA on behalf of EirGrid, is an account of the
public consultation exercises undertaken for the EirGrid 400kV Meath-Cavan and Cavan-Tyrone
power line projects.It covers consultation exercises that have occurred from September 2007 to date as part of Phase 1 of
this project, namely the Strategic Constraints Scoping Phase.The consultation aspect of the project has been diverse, with over 11,000 members of the public
engaging with the Project Team (as of March 2008).

RPS has been engaged by EIRGRID to provide strategic planning guidance
in respect of the provision of the planned Cavan-Tyrone 400kV Interconnector
Project, and a 400kV transmission line connecting the existing 400kV
Woodland Station near Batterstown, Co. Meath, including a new sub-station
near Kingscourt Co. Cavan.

NORTHERN IRELAND AND THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND CAVAN - TYRONE AND MEATH-CAVAN 400KV PROJECTS PRELIMINARY BRIEFING NOTE OVERHEAD AND UNDERGROUND ENERGY TRANSMISSION OPTIONS

This Preliminary Briefing Note summarises in general terms the technical and cost issues associated with implementing these two projects. The note is prepared in advance of the finalisation of the planning applications for each scheme and in advance also of a more detailed report on undergrounding. Accordingly, further detailed information on technical and cost issues will be available in due course.
