line between Arva 110kV station and Drumkee 275kV Station.
ADDITIONAL INTERCONNECTION BETWEEN NORTHERN IRELAND AND REPUBLIC OF IRELAND TECHNICAL REPORT - PART 1 � STUDIES APRIL 2001 TO JULY 2004
A suite of technical studies were undertaken jointly by a team of engineers from ESBNG and
NIE over the period April 2001 to July 2004. The presentation of the results from these
studies is provided in this report. The purpose of the technical study work is to quantify the
improvement in transmission capacity and system security that would be provided by each of
the interconnection options.
Northern Ireland Electricity Tandragee - Louth 275kV Feasibility Study 23rd March 2005
A joint steering committee comprising of both Northern Ireland Electricity
(NIE) and ESB National Grid (ESB) requested that a feasibility study of
potential 275kV Interconnections be carried out in February 2003. The
inaugral report assessed the feasibility of a potential new 275kV line between
Drumkee 275kV station and Arva 110 kV station.However, following further joint NIE/ESBNG planning studies it was decided
to investigate other further potential routes prior to making a definitive
decision
