Cork, 12TH April 2012: Public consultation starts on the Grid Link Project, an estimated �500 million project planned by EirGrid to upgrade the electricity grid that will deliver a wide range of benefits to the national and regional economies. The development will involve the construction of a new power line linking Leinster and Munster.

The Grid Link Project Prepared for EirGrid by RPS Group Study Area Paper
This paper has been prepared by RPS Group on behalf of EirGrid. The intention of this paper is to
outline the proposed study area for the project and record the relevant considerations and
deliberations on the path to defining the study area. The proposed study area presented at the end of
this paper will form the basis of public consultation and the submissions received during this
consultation process together with the other considerations outlined in this paper will inform the final
project study area brought forward.

West Galway 110/38 kV Substation STAGE 1 LEAD CONSULTANT�S REPORT IDENTIFICATION OF LEAST CONSTRAINED SITES February 2012
EirGrid proposes to develop a new 110/38 kV electricity substation west of Moycullen,
County Galway, at a location along the permitted Salthill � Screebe 110 kV overhead line
(OHL). ESB International (ESBI) has been appointed by EirGrid as the Lead Consultant for
this project.
Laois - Kilkenny Reinforcement Project Assessment of 400 Kv Connection Methods to Coolnabacky Substation
The Stage 1 Report for the Laois � Kilkenny Reinforcement Project was published in May 2011. One of the findings of this report was the identification of an emerging preferred site for the 400/110 kV substation in Laois. During the subsequent four week public consultation phase on this report, no new information came to the project team�s attention that would alter its opinion that the location identified is the most suitable.

this Report will enable meaningful consultation between the project team
