Celtic Interconnector Newsletter Issue 9 - December 2025
The trenching and installation of ducting to carry the high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable on the route from Claycastle Beach to the converter station in Ballyadam is complete. Over 60% of the HVDC cables have been installed. Cable installation and jointing of the cables on the N25 between Youghal and Killeagh and between Killeagh and Castlemartyr has been completed. Permanent road reinstatement on these sections has finished. At the landfall, the cofferdam was removed and the beach returned to its former state for public use.
Celtic Interconnector Community Forum Meeting – Celtic Conversation with French Mayors - June 2025
In June 2025 mayors representing the various French communes through which the Celtic interconnector project runs through in France were welcomed to east Cork. Accompanied by our project partner, Rte they visited the project area and were warmly welcomed by the Celtic east Cork communities.

Tá suiteáil cábla sna duchtanna agus siúntáil faid na gcáblaí lena chéile feadh an bhealaigh ar an N25 idir Eochaill agus Cill Ia curtha i gcrích, agus cuirfear an bóthar ar ais mar a bhí an mhí seo chugainn. Is ionann sin agus cuid amháin den trí chuid de bhealach an chábla ar an N25. Leanfar leis an obair ar an dara cuid ó Chill Ia go Baile na Martra.

The trenching and installation of ducting to carry the high voltage direct current cable (HVDC) on the route from Claycastle Beach to the converter station in Ballyadam is complete. Installing cable in the ducts and jointing the cable lengths together on the route on the N25 between Youghal and Killeagh has been completed, and the road will be reinstated this month.
Celtic Interconnector Community Benefit Fund Phase 2 Successful Project List
The outcome from the second phase of the Celtic Interconnector Community Benefit fund was announced on Wednesday 9 September. All applicants were contacted by SECAD, the fund administrator.
