Plean�la under the Strategic Infrastructure Act for the Meath � Tyrone 400kV Interconnection
Development, which will facilitate cross-border sharing of electricity and ensure the long-term

technically and aesthetically suitable to employ on the new Meath-Tyrone 400kV Interconnection

THE REPORT AND THE CONSULTANT: The contract for producing the Technical
Report on the use of extra high voltage (EHV) cables in the island networks was
awarded to Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) following an open
tendering process.
Assessment of the Technical Issues relating to Significant Amounts of EHV Underground Cable in the All-island Electricity Transmission System Public Report
TEPCO has carried out the following studies in order to evaluate the effect of cable
installations on the NIE/EirGrid network:
Part 1: Evaluation of the potential impact on the all-island transmission system of significant
lengths of EHV underground cable, either individually or in aggregate
Part 2: Feasibility study on the 400 kV Woodland � Kingscourt � Turleenan line as AC EHV
underground cables for the entire length
Part 3: Feasibility study of the 400 kV Woodland � Kingscourt � Turleenan line as mixed OHL /
underground cable
