While EirGrid is of the firm belief that undergrounding does not represent an appropriate technology
for the proposed 400kV projects or for the general development of the transmission system, in this
report, the considerations that would arise in relation to the use of the rail beds involved are examined.

April 8, 2009 � Following a review of all project documentation, including consultants� studies, reports and consultation feedback, EirGrid has nominated one preferred route corridor for each 400kV power line project for further study.

EirGrid believes it is necessary to take this case to protect the interests of everyone, including the electricity consumer. The case will be heard in the Commercial Court and no date has been set as yet.
