Dr Patrick Crushell was commissioned by AOS Planning to assess the abundance and distribution of wintering wader and wildfowl birds in the study area of two proposed substations (at Ballyragget Co Kilkenny and South East of Portlaoise, Co Laois) and an interconnecting 110 kV powerline.

The purpose of the following report is to provide a cost and technical comparison between Air
Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substations for the purposes
of building a 400kV Substation for the Laois-Kilkenny Reinforcement Project.

AOS Planning Limited has been commissioned by ESBI to prepare an
environmental report for an underground electricity cable route (Route A) for
a new 110kV underground electricity circuit as part of the Laois � Kilkenny
Reinforcement Project. The environmental report covers the topics of Ecology,
Cultural Heritage, Soils & Geology and Hydrology & Hydrogeology.
Laois - Kilkenny Reinforcement Project 110 kV Underground Cable Feasibility Study
This study has assessed the feasibility for a new 110 kV AC underground
cable connecting the proposed Ballyragget 110 kV Station to a proposed
400 kV Station, south-east of Portlaoise.
