Shaping Our Electricity Future

EirGrid and SONI have published the SOEF Markets - Future Arrangements for System Services - Auction Design - DotEcon Afry Recommendations Paper, which should be read in conjunction with this accompanying supporting note.

As part of the ongoing work to develop Future Arrangements for System Services, EirGrid and SONI have been working with our partners DotEcon and Afry on the development of proposals for suitable future auction arrangements for System Services based on the High-Level Design set out by the SEM Committee (SEM-22-012). The focus of this work has been on the development of daily auction arrangements, initially for reserve services, but with the intention of creating a framework extendable to other system services.

The grid requires unprecedented change in the lead up to
2030.The main objective of the Shaping Our Electricity
Future Roadmap Version 1.1 is to outline how we can make the
grid ready so that 80% of Ireland’s and Northern Ireland’s
electricity can come from renewable sources, like the wind
and sun, by 2030.

The EirGrid Energy Citizens Roadshows took place in Navan,
Meath on the 4th of May 2023. The Roadshow featured a number
of exhibitors providing information on energy and community
supports followed by a panel discussion from EirGrid, SEAI,
ESB Networks and Meath County Council.
